Friendly Authors Networking Socials (F.A.N.S.)

FANS Meeting:  November 15, 2025  Quality Foods Upstairs Board room.

10:30 am to Noon

FANS Terry Talk Writing Skills Series:  November 15, 12:30 to 2:30 pm  $10 per person

Topic:  Accessing Your Creativity Through the Power of Words

Presenter:  Jane Bow

Description:  Come and explore how and why words work. Connect with their power through writing, and go home with a newly created character who is uniquely yours.  You will then use all of your senses to examine a natural object. Writing freely, you will let the words guide you. Examining the nature of your words’ energies will give you tools so that, returning to your object, you can use it to create a character. (Natural objects will be provided.)

Jane Bow is a writer with four novels published, three of which have been shortlisted for awards. Her most recent book, Homeless, was a finalist in Britain’s International 2024 Rubery Book Awards. Jane has taught creative writing at Trent University and Ontario’s Haliburton School For The Arts and has done readings and presentations on her work in Canada, the U.S., Britain, and India.

Author of the Month

Please welcome our newest FANS member.  Gordon Greene is a Canadian author whose writing journey is rooted in a lifelong passion for storytelling. After a distinguished career spanning over four decades in business and IT systems, culminating in his retirement from IBM in 2016, Greene turned his focus to fiction, channelling his leadership experience and creative vision into compelling narratives.

His debut novel, Dominance Unleashed: Unmasking the Monolithic King (2023), marked the realization of a dream nurtured since childhood. He followed this with Echoes of Duty: In Search of Innocence (2024), a gripping tale of suspense and redemption, and Quest (2025), a high-stakes thriller exploring the razor’s edge between technological innovation and destruction in the age of AI.

Greene’s works are available in eBook and print formats, with Dominance Unleashed and Echoes of Duty also offered as audiobooks. His latest release, Quest, is available as a podcast audiobook series on major platforms. Learn more at https://gordongreenebooks.com

Excerpt of the Month

And now, for something completely different… we give you Quest by Gordon Greene in podcast format. In a world on the brink of an AI-driven catastrophe, only the brightest minds can prevent a national disaster or unleash something far worse. When the President of the United States declares artificial intelligence the most significant emerging threat to national security, a covert task force, codenamed “Q,” is formed to combat the invisible dangers lurking in the digital realm. Under the command of Dr. Alexandra Conner, the CIA Director of Analysis, and an elite team of experts, they must race against time to predict and neutralize AI-driven threats before they bring the nation to its knees.
